لأكثر من ربع قرن ونحن نعمل في خدمة الكتاب والعناية به.. ابتداء بالمخطوط وصولا للقارئ.. وما بين الإثنين مسيرة شاقة وممتعة في آن معا.. نقطعها لنلامس فيها العقل والذوق.. فالعقل بما يجسد من فكر وعلم ومعرفة… وأما الذوق فللارتقاء به إلى مقامات رفيعة من الحس والجمال… ولا شك أن الجمع بين الإثنين هو فن راق عند البشر.. يبدأ بالموهبة ويتقدم بالخبرة وينتهي بالتميز…

Who are we?

We are the craftsmen, the savants and the connoisseurs of our field. We have expertise in the field of book fabrication, review and publishing spanning over a quarter of a century.

The founder Mr. Abdullah El Baroudi established “Dar El Baroudi” in 1978- which translates to as Baroudi publishing house – during the Lebanese Civil war, and went on to gather the titles of many esteemed authors in-order to review and publish them under his company’s name. Dar Al Baroudi has been one of the leading printing companies in the market with an envious reputation for service and quality

The published books included works of old authors renowned and unsung together with contemporary ones both fresh and seasoned. Along the years Baroudi Publishing house became accustomed in producing only the most refined of book selections.

For years we have been involved in the domain of providing book care and services, starting with the manuscript and ending with the reader. Between both phases, there lies a long strenuous and delightful course that we cross to touch both the mind, with all the knowledge it represents, and the taste to reach higher levels of sensitivity and beauty. Our activities…

The house is engaged in services and industrial activities, all related to printing, publishing, distribution, promotion items, promotion, media and scientific services, in addition to book manufacture, particularly the scientific and technical aspects of the process, combining the process of importing the highest quality materials for this purpose and satisfying the market and clients’ needs, executing commitments, tender engagements, printing projects, binding works and accessory leather goods related to the book manufacture.

Printing tasks

Those are divided into 2 categories: Prep press tasks which involve electronic typesetting, design, graphic design, layout, preparation of plates, clichés and die-cutting moulds.

Binding

This is an independent department specialized in bookbinding related to different book forms, such as files and folders, varying from automatic to VIP hand made binding.

Agendas

Each season, our publishing house prepares new designs and buys the newest binding leathers. In fact, we are now in the process of supplying ourselves with very modern designs based on the developed raw material involved in their production.

Leather products

Those are also related to books and stationary items, such as leather folders, leather sets and gift items.

Boxes

The production of boxes is a special and counterpart department for book production, that involves the manufacture of boxes specially made for premium quality books and Koran editions, in addition to the production of boxes specially made for seasonal agendas and promotion items specific for special occasions and holiday seasons.

This department provides cultural and scientific institutions with the following services:

Studies, researches and compilation of essays and articles
Verification of heritage manuscripts
Re-writing and re-editing material
Correction of proof sheets
Translation and preparation of scientific indexes and catalogues for books and compilations

Projects under way…

1- Printing the “Al-Mushaf Al-Mutamāthil Al Kalimi”

As a matter of fact, we have chosen a rare and unique manuscript of the Holy Koran, that is “Al-Mushaf Al-Mutamāthil Al Kalimi”.

We are currently preparing new designs of this Koran in different sizes, in addition to ornamentations and fonts, all according to the original arrangement of the manuscript, with beautiful jacket designs different from all the recurrences and imitations available on the market.

2- Printing the Mutanabbi’s poetical works… by publishing, for the first time ever, the most important and valuable modernly discovered manuscript.

Cultural characteristics

This edition of the poetical works is characterized with the presence, on each of its pages, of the original manuscript considered one of the rarest and most valuable one pertaining to Al-Mutanabbi found in a private library. Its value is attributed to distinguished characteristics considered precious and rarely found in one single copy; those characteristics were the basis for the work’s verification. The manuscript is characterized with the following:

First: Its attributions are directly related to Abul Tayyeb himself for it has been based on two copies: One that was read before Al-Mutanabbi in person in addition to Abul-Fath Othmān Ibn Junni (died in 392 of the hijra) who is a great scholar of the Arabic language and a companion of Al-Mutanabbi who studied it under him personally; the manuscript contains corrections in his own handwriting.

As for the other copy, each and every poem in it contains the word “right” written by Al-Mutanabbi himself as asserted by the transcriber at its end (p.332 of the manuscript).

This copy has been compared to other sources compared with “Kathīr Kāther” and one generation of copies after the other that connect it to Al-Mutanabbi in several ways; examples of these are the copy of Ibnul-Saribān (died in 430 of the hijra), the copy of Issa Al-Ruba‘i (died in 420 of the hijra) and that of Sheikh Tajuddīn Al-Kindi (died in 613 of the hijra).

Second: The copy is at the same time full and filled with a surplus of poems, since it contains those that have been proven to be written by Al-Mutanabbi in all of his collections of poems in addition to a surplus content of rare poems and passages, such as his “ha’iyya” which starts as follows (according to Al-kamel meter):

“Limā lā yughāthu-shi‘ru wahwa yassīhū wa Yurā manārul haqqi wahwa yalūhu

(Why does not anyone respond to recited poetry, and the light of truth so bright remains unseen?)

And his “dāliyya” which starts as follows (according to Al-Wāfer meter):

Abar-rahmanu illā an asūdā Wa haythu halaltu lā u‘damu hasūdā

(God wanted me to prevail, and wherever I go I find enviers)

And his “ta’iyya” which starts as follows (according to Al-Bassīt meter):

Māli ka’anna shtiyākan thalla yanufu bī Bimassa la bisiwāhā kāna murtabitā

(Why do I feel all this nostalgia to Egypt and none other that Egypt?)

Third: The calligraphy of this copy is clear and written with an oriental easy to read font; the transcriber has worked on the layout and separated between the poems and the introductions with lines, put what he himself wrote in each page inside a double-lined rectangular frame, and wrote the preludes in red ink and the poems with a black fountain pen.

What about This edition

It is the first time that this copy of the collection of poems is published, for no one has ever found, verified, published and printed it with all the additions earlier, and all the previously printed copies had been circulating for a long time.

Technical characteristics

An artistic design was prepared to simulate the format, paper type and binding ways used in ancient oriental manuscripts once kept in kings and sultan’s castles and currently found in important museums. We also printed a photo of the manuscript on each page, faced with the same page, verified and vowelized. The same artistic values will be adopted, in high specifications, as in the design displayed hereinafter, which will make it an artistic cultural work worthy of this edition.

3- Documents of the Arabian peninsula…

These are dangerous documents, in seven volumes, known as the “Castle documents”, that king Fouad of Egypt ordered to be translated from Turkish into Arabic.

4- Rare ancient books & Old periodicals and rare sources…

This is a very specialized department with enough competence and knowledge with regards to the ownership of ancient and rare books, periodicals, manuscripts and documents and a capacity to evaluate these both on the cultural and material levels. This department prepares lists and distributes them on all concerned parties and institutions, such as university libraries and public and private libraries, in order to market and sell them as rare authentic collections or reprint them in limited quantities due to the rare demand on such material. Our house has a wide experience in marketing these collections and a long history that goes back to the seventies of the 20^th century. It is considered a pioneer in the domain of ancient books and owns a relatively large collection of these rare sources.
